Keith D. Maderer is first and foremost the father of five college age children. His oldest two have already graduated on time with bachelors degrees and one with her masters degree.
He graduated from West Seneca West high school in 1977 and Canisius College in 1981. He continued his education and received his certification as a financial planner in 1990 and certification as a fund specialist in 1991.
Keith has been working as a financial, investment and income tax advisor since 1981. He is currently the owner of SENIOR Financial and Tax Associates and has been helping families in the Western New York area for over 25 years.
He is the founder, managing director and a selection committee member of the Maderer Foundation, which was set up in 2004 to provide private scholarships to local students in Western New York. It was established in memory of his father, who died from asbestos related lung cancer in 2004.
Keith has served his community by volunteering for many area youth programs, Habitat for Humanity, Literacy Volunteers and his family church, St. John Vianney. From 2000 to 2004, he was the co-founder and president of the Orchard Park Youth Basketball Association, OPYBA.
Over the years he has seen first hand the importance of proper planning as well as the problems that poor planning can have on present and future finances. Excessive student loan debt and high education costs can be severely detrimental to family retirement and estate planning goals, not to mention creating undesirable stress on the entire family.
Keith hopes that by writing this book he can help you to reduce the cost of college and the stress that goes along with it. He believes that if you start early and follow the steps in this book, you will be pleasantly surprised with the savings, ease of use and peace of mind you can achieve.
His hobbies include hiking, biking, golf, tennis, frisbee golf and photography among others. He enjoys reading, working with his hands and learning about the new technology that keeps popping up. He looks forward to writing other finance related books and helping people benefit from his ideas, expertise and years of experience.
He enjoys running a small business, living in a small town and participating in the simple things in life. He is content with what he has and looks forward to passing his down to earth values to his children and grandchildren someday.
His favorite sayings are:
“If you believe you can … you will.” and “If you wait for perfection ... it never arrives.”
